A person with a family who will not plan and prepare for tomorrow is not a family person. They are living for themself within the structure of a family.
Such a person is selfish. A selfish person relies upon the tolerance of their partner for the relationship to survive.
Overall such selfishness shows a small restricted mind, which is not compatible with the mind of someone who sees a bigger picture.
When two minds are incompatible, over time all else between them will become incompatible.
