When they consistently take actions that demonstrate their power and add to their financial gain, they become a weight upon society.
When they leave their position the only way society can let them know of their disdain for their actions is to banish them from further public life, thus removing their power and forcing them to live in the isolation and powerlessness they have forced upon others.
